On Socialnomics: Tacking "-nomics" at the end did few favours. And someone needs to fire his sub-ed: Grammar mistakes galore.

Socialnomics makes an adequate road map for the social media neophyte. In this respect, Qualman manages to hit almost every point worth elaborating upon. And yet, elaborate, he does not.

He borrows a fair bit from Tapscott's Wikinomics and Levitt's now well-known and recently supersized Freakonomics. However, another Freakonomics this title is not.

Tacking on "-onomics" did few favours for Qualman given the momentous success of Tapscott and Levitt Qualman, and the inevitable comparisons. Neither did his attempts to bandy around such neologisms as Socialnomics and Socialommerce. (Like, seriously?)

Frankly, this book lacks - and is unlikely to gain - the same kind of momentum necessary to bring these terms to light. All it succeeded in was my annoyance no end.

Socialnomics felt like an ambitious attempt, but with little payback. For what it had in breadth, it lacked in insight. (How long did he have to write this damn thing?)

And for the love of Pete, someone needs to fire his sub-ed: I'm talking grammar mishaps galore.
